Elsie Wiebe fonds. – 1976-1998. – 5 cm of textual records

Administrative/Biographical History

Elsie Wiebe was born 28 June 1923 , the daughter of Jacob and Anna Andres, at Langham, Saskatchewan where she attended the local Lakeberg country school.  The family moved to Ontario near St. Catharines in 1940.  She married John Wiebe, an agricultural science researcher and administrator.  They travelled extensively in North America and abroad and were the parents of six children.   Elsie died in Calgary in 2010.

Scope and Content 

The fonds consists of genealogical and historical information gathered by Elsie Wiebe about the descendants of Gerhard Wall (1840-1919) and Maria (Dueckmann) Wall (1844-1914).  It consists of a folder of letters to John and Elsie Wiebe from relatives in Russia providing genealogical and biographical information and a 75-page compilation of genealogical, biographical and historical information about members of the Wall family entitled: “Der Wall Familienstammbaum. Die Nachkommen von Gerhard Wall (1840-1919) and Maria Dueckmann  (1844-1914) zusammengestellt von Elsie Wiebe, 1995.”
