Thiessen,, Connie

October 4, 1961 – December 3rd, 2013
Connie Thiessen of New Sarepta passed away on December 3, 2013 at the age of 52 years. Connie is survived by her loving family; husband Bernie; children Shantel, Megan, Gregory and Janelle. She is also survived by her sister Pamela (Gordon) Young and their children Scott and Carmen; brother James (Alana) Toews and their children Emilie, and Zavada; and her father Robert (Grace) Toews.

Connie was born in Grande Prairie, the first child of Robert and Violet Toews, on October 4, 1961. She received an 1/8 size violin for her fourth birthday and began lessons. Her love for music grew as did her skill and soon she was performing in church and other venues. She also learned to play the piano. She passed on her love of music to her many music students.

Connie expressed her love for Jesus at a young age and accepted Him into her life at the age of seven. Connie finished her high school in Spruce Grove and went to Briercrest Bible College where her spiritual life and musical ability continued to grow. She studied Education at the University of Alberta and received her Bachelor of Education degree. Connie loved teaching, whether it was elementary school children, music students, church Christmas concerts or teaching her children many life lessons and the most important one being the love of Jesus. She met her husband Bernie while working on a road construction job. They were married on August 31, 1985 and enjoyed many wonderful years together.

In the last eight years she greatly appreciated the many visitors she had while in the nursing homes. Thank you for your love and support during this time.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Century Meadows Baptist Church in Camrose.  Memorial donations may be made to the Huntington Society.
