August 31, 1924 – January 24th, 2010

     On January 24, 2010 Margaret Schmidt passed away at the age of 86 in the Tofield Extended Care Home.

      Margaret will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband George of 65 years, five children: George (Edith), Rita (David Penner), Donna (Leigh Noton), Bill (Kathy), Vernon (Julianne), fourteen grandchildren and seven great children, sister Christine and brother George, as well as many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Heinrich and Margareta Schroeder, brother Henry and sister Agnes.

       Margaret was born in Russia, arrived in Canada at a very early age and was raised in a farming community north of Tofield where she lived for 84 years. She loved farming and rural life with livestock, chickens, gardening and preserving. She will be remembered for her hand work, hooked rugs and zwieback, but most of all, for her pleasure in serving family and friends in her home and church.

        A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at the Tofield Mennonite Church, 5631 – 47 St., Tofield, AB on Friday on January 29 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at the Tofield Cemetery.
