Our logo
The MHSA logo is a picture of a feather quill pen, sitting on a leather-bound volume closed with a clasp.
Here is a explanation from Henry Goerzen, the designer of the logo:
- The book is a treasured volume if not a sacred text of a people of faith.
- The quill is an instrument for writing and inserting the stories from our people between the lines of our biblical text (adding to the Acts book of our Bibles) and to our reference library in our archives.
- The clasp on the volume is a sign of our safe-guarding and sealing them up for posterity – locking them up in the Archives Vault.
- The pie piece shapes above the quill nib represent our part of the world globe – Alberta and the other provinces of Canada and the feathered out tail of the pen touching and inviting the rest of the world.
