Loewen, Matilda

September 20, 1929 ~December 24, 2017

Mrs. Matilda Gladys Loewen of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Arthur Peter Loewen, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

Matilda Gladys Plett (Tillie) was born September 20, 1929 to Jacob and Helena Plett at Steinbach, MB. She married Art Loewen on May 4, 1952 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2012, before Art’s passing.

Tillie Loewen is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Loewen (Bill Vrieling) of Salmon Arm, BC and Brenda (Richard) Harter of Lethbridge, AB; one son, Wayne (Lilia) Loewen of Penticton, BC; grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Murphy, Desiree Loewen and Max Picton, Devon (Patricia) Harter, Shawn (Tanya) Harter, Candice Harter and Dylan Postman, Kevin Vrieling and Arianna Vrieling; two sisters, Sarah Unger of Burns Lake, BC and Trudie Friesen of Steinbach, MB; two brothers, Cornie (Bernie) Plett and Ron (Anna) Plett; sister-in-law, Gerda Plett, all of Steinbach, MB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her loving husband, Arthur Peter Loewen, Tillie was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Helena Plett; two children, Bernita Loewen and Jerry Loewen; sister, Violet Reimer; brother, Jake Plett and three brothers-in-law.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Ian Lawson officiating.
