Kroeker, David

June 8, 1943 –  August 30th, 2015

David D.D. Kroeker, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side.

David was born in a log cabin on June 8, 1943 in Wyngard, Saskatchewan to David and Maria Kroeker. He graduated from Rosthern Junior College, in Rosthern, Saskatchewan in 1961. He was baptized at the age of 18 at Horse Lake Mennonite Church. David then went to Swift Current Bible Institute and met his future wife, Loretta Brandt. They were married February 11, 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

David earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan (1969) as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina (1993). David had a passion for farming. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and mechanical work. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. David had a deep and abiding faith which was exhibited in his relationships with his friends, family and neighbors.

David leaves to mourn his wife, Loretta and his four children and eleven grandchildren: Candace (Rodney) Doig – Kiersten, Kieran, and Dylan; David (Julie) Kroeker – Jorja, Virginia, Cecilia; Jonathan (Roxanne) Kroeker – Bailey; and Anthony (Andrea) Kroeker – Carson, Sophie, Cooper, and Nash. He is also survived by his sister, Maria (George) Fast, and numerous nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents Maria and David Kroeker, his nephew Gary Fast, his step–mother Margaret (Bartsch) Kroeker, and brother-in-law Steve Brandt.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5th, 2015 at Tofield Mennonite Church with Dr. Lorne Brandt officiating, and Pastor Ken Stumph coordinating the service. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held on a later date at the Tofield Cemetery.
