Title and Physical Description

Helen Willms fonds. – 1943-1946. –  2 cm of textual records

Administrative/Biographical History

Helen Willms was born in southern Russia, in the 1920s, but the family emigrated to Canada when she was only 5 months old.  They lived briefly in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and several places in Alberta before acquiring their own farm near Coaldale, Alberta.   She completed grade 10, worked at home for three years, and then enrolled as a student in the Coaldale Mennonite Bible School.   Helen then went on to further studies, volunteered for missionary service and helped to establish a nursing school in China.

Scope and Content

The fonds consists entirely of notes and written assignments completed while Helen Willms was a student in the Coaldale Mennonite Bible School.  There are quite detailed notes on courses taken, some short autobiographical notes and a few penmanship exersises.  They document both the content of courses taught at the Bible School and Helen’s personal beliefs, thoughts and experiences.

Source of Acquisition

Donated by Helen Willms’ sister, Mary, in 2003.
