August 23, 1922 = October 13, 2008
MRS. ERNA GOERTZEN beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
Erna was born August 23, 1922 in Tiege, Russia as Erna Gossen. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was four and she lived most of her life in Coaldale, AB. Erna will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Delores (Sieg) Bartel of Calgary; daughter-in-law, Loretta Goertzen; grandchildren, Carol (Dan) Brantner and Carmen (Deayne) Dool both Calgary, Jeremy (Kyla) Goertzen of Taber, and Jackie-Lynn Goertzen of Coaldale; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle, Curtis, Andrew, Jason, Noah and Brody. Also remaining to cherish her memory are her brother, John (Mary) Gossen and sister, Anne (Jake) Neufeld both of Coaldale; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Erna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Goertzen, her son Ron Goertzen and numerous brothers and sisters. Erna had a passion for living life to the fullest. She worked hard at home, in her church and in her community.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the COALDALE MENNONITE CONFERENCE CHURCH, 2316 – 17 Street, Coaldale.
Erna will be buried at 11:00am on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Coaldale Cemetery, Mennonite Section.
A Celebration of Erna’s Life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 17, 2008 at COALDALE MENNONITE CONFERENCE CHURCH, with Pastor Gerald Klassen and Pastor Peter Funk officiating.
