Administrative/Biographical History

Johan Gerbrandt, 1817-1889, was from a Mennonite family in southern Russia. His son Peter Gerbrandt, 1848-1915, migrated to southern Manitoba in the 1870s. He was a member of the Sommerfelder church and became a career farmer. Peter’s son was Johan Gerbrandt, 1872-1926. Johan’s son Johan (John) Gerbrandt, 1913- , lived at Olds, Alberta.

Scope & Content

The fonds consists of a photocopy of the Gerbrandt family’s record of vital events; some photocopied fragments of correspondence; and a photocopied diary of agricultural practices (1912-1930).
