CLAASSEN, Katie (nee Koslowsky)
June 10, 1925 – January 24, 2013
Peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013. Katie was born in Hochfeld, Russia and came to Canada on May 17, 1948 to Tees, Alberta. She married Helmut Claassen on March 19, 1955, and became a mother of two children, Martin and Elenore. She was a faithful, long-time member of First Mennonite Church of Calgary. Katie is survived by her son Martin (Shirley), and her sister Hilda Krause, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Helmut; her daughter Elenore; her sister Frieda Kerber; and her brother Theo. A Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4 Street N.W.) on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at First Mennonite Church of Calgary (2600 Richmond Road S.W.) at 12:30 p.m., with Pastor Ed Kauffman officiating.
