Braun, Harold (Harry)

November 8, 1957 – July 10, 2010

Harold (Harry) Braun passed away at the age of 52 years on July 10, 2010 in Calgary, AB after a courageous eleven year battle with brain cancer.

Harry was born on November 8, 1957 in Calgary, AB to John and Johanna Braun, as their first Canadian born child. He grew up in a loving happy home. He attended and graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School, and continued his education where he obtained his Engineering Technology Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He worked alongside his father and his brothers in the construction industry lending a strong hand to all his tasks. In his youth, he was a car enthusiast and a skier. He also went on frequent bike trips, once travelling from Calgary to Banff with his cousin Rick Harms. Later in life his biggest passion was being a proud and devoted father to his three sons. A highlight in his life was spending time with his boys including a recent family trip to Victoria touring the Town, whale watching, and just enjoying life. Harry was a loving father, son, brother and cousin. He was always the first to show his support and kindness to people. He had a gentle unassuming manner and a dry, fast wit.

Harry is survived by his mother, Johanna Braun; his sons Kyle, Jeremy, and Samuel Braun, mother of his children, Darcy Braun; his sister Heidi Gibson (Stephen); his brothers, Rudy (Lottie) Braun, Gary (Allison) Braun and Rick (Sara) Braun; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Kaylee, Tyler, Stefan, Krista, Lucas, and Matthew; and large extended family. He was predeceased by his father John Braun in 2005.
