Biographical History

Mary Wall, daughter of Maria and David Penner, was born in Silberfeld, Novosibirsk on 30 April 1929,  In 1930 the family was ordered to leave Silberfeld and began a long trek, first eastward as far as the Amur River  They returned briefly to Silberfeld.  They next moved southwestward through Tashkent, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and then northwestward through eastern, central and western Europe.   They sailed from Bremen to Canada in 1949.  They settled in Coaldale, lived for several years in British Columbia, before returning to Coaldale.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains a 12 page typewritten manuscript, written by Mary Wall, entitled “Mary’s Family’s Historical Trek from Russia to Coaldale.”  A map showing the route of the family’s long trek is attached.
