Administrative/Biographical History

John Raymond Dyck was born in 1928 in Burwalde, Manitoba to John and Helena (nee Enns) Dyck. In 1955 he married Florence Agnes Buhr, and together they have two children: Donna and Peter. John was trained as a physician and Florence as a nurse. They’ve volunteered their skills through Mennonite Central Committee placements in the United States and in the former Congo. John and Florence are members of the Highland Mennonite Brethren Church. John is also an active member of the Mennonite Historical Society of Alberta and has led its genealogy special interest group.

Custodial History

The records were donated to the MHSA in 2009.

Scope & Content

The fonds consists of a transcribed and translated letter written in 1879 by John Dyck’s grandfather Wiens from Canada to relatives in Russia.
