Thiessen, Susie (Harder)

December 30,1916 ~ November 4, 2017

Susie Thiessen, beloved wife of David Thiessen was welcomed into her Heavenly Home on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Coaldale Health Care Centre. She reached the age of 100 years; 2 months shy of her 101st birthday.
Susie was born in Spat, Crimea on December 30, 1916 to parents Peter and Elizabeth Harder. At the age of 9 years, she immigrated to Canada in October, 1925 with her parents and 9 siblings.
The family soon settled on the farm in the Coaldale area. Susie loved farm life, enjoying numerous outdoor activities with her younger brothers. In 1942, she married David Thiessen with whom she celebrated 75 years of marriage on March 27, 2017.
Susie lived a long and fruitful life; selfless, generous and always grateful. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband David; sons Victor and Verner; daughters Edna Jane and Wanda (Bill); 9 grandchildren and 13 great-granchildren.
Susie was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, with the exception of her youngest brother Corey (Jean) Harder of Parksville, BC.
Friends and loved ones are invited to meet the family between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the COALDALE MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2114 18 Street Coaldale, Alberta. A Private Family Service will be held in the Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery at a later date.
Mom’s favorite season was spring. We will honour her memory then with a Celebration of Life at the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Gary Burke, officiating. The date will be announced at a later time.
