1928 – February 25th, 2010
On February 25, 2010, at the age of 82, with his dear wife and beloved family by his side, Ben left us to be with the Savior he spent his life praising.
Ben will be missed by his wife Elsie, of nearly 61 years; 4 sons and 1 daughter, Ron (Marion) Thiessen, Leona (John) Wall, Ken (Connie) Thiessen, Mel Thiessen, and Gary (Evelyn) Thiessen; 9 grandchildren; and 16½ great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Marie, siblings, Corny, Nick, Frank, Anne, and grandson, Kurt.
Ben was a devoted husband and father, and a caring grandpa and great-grandpa. Elsie, his “sweetheart”, was the number one person in his life, and all his family knew the deep love that he had for them. Although he farmed most of his life, Ben’s passion was serving God, especially in the areas of Sunday school, VBS, Boys Brigade and youth ministry. He was “Uncle Ben” and “Grandpa Thiessen” to far more than his family, and touched countless lives over the years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 1:30pm at ‘The House’, 5826 – 51 Street, Tofield, Alberta.
