Stutzman, Nathan

September 19, 1923 – November 12th, 2014

Nathan Omar Stutzman was born on September 19, 1923 to Milo and Barbara Stutzman on the family farm at Kingman, Alberta.  With the influence of these godly parents, Nathan accepted Christ as his personal saviour at a young age and was baptized at the age of 12.  He was a faithful member of the Salem Mennonite Church until his passing.  In recent years, Nathan was unable to attend regularly due to his failing health, but he never stopped caring for his church family.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 12th at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, at the age of 91 years.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velda; daughters Sharon (Ed Wiens) and Eileen (Neil Shiffer); 7 grandchildren: Melanie (Keith Irwin), Shane (Colleen), Angie (Tom Bingham), Dustin, Sheldon, Brianne & Josh; 7 great-grandchildren: Keltie, Lauren & Sydney Irwin, Denae & Ryan Wiens and Jack & Moses Bingham; brother-in-law Merlin Wideman and sister-in-law Viola Roth, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by son Dennis in 1980 and granddaughter Caylee in 2005.

Nathan will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of the outdoors, travel, gardening and ability to create and build many things.  He loved his family and was always interested in the lives of the children, grandchildren & the great-grandchildren.

To the staff, nurses and doctors at the St. Mary’s Hospital – thank you for your wonderful care during his time there.  A special thank you to Barb at the Smith Clinic for her care and understanding.  Thank you to family to family and friends whose love and support have been much appreciated at this time.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at Salem Mennonite Church south of Tofield with Pastor Mark Loewen officiating.  Interment will take place at Salem Mennonite Cemetery.
