BRAUN, Sara

1934 – 2019
Sara Braun passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Sara was born in Altona, Manitoba, and raised on a farm with two sisters and two brothers. She was married in 1956 to Abe. They spent ten years on pipeline work between Ontario and Alberta, making many lifelong friends along the way. They moved to the farm east of Airdrie in 1967 and Sara resided there until March of 2015 when she moved into Airdrie. Sara is survived by her three children, Richard (Teresa), Debra (Kevin) Black and Sharlene (Ken) Lafferty; six grandchildren, Nicole Black, Kayla (Adam) Reid, Nathan (Elizabeth) Black, Aimee Lafferty, Aaron (Samantha) Lafferty and Sara Black; as well as four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Clara Reid, and Rachael and Evelyn Black. Sara was predeceased by her husband, Abe in 2004 after forty-seven years of marriage. Mom is remembered for her faith, hard work, enduring love of family and friends, kind heart, gentle spirit and graciousness. A Funeral Service will be held at the Foothills Mennonite Church (2115 Urbana Road N.W., Calgary, Alberta) on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Doug Klassen officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
