JANZEN – Helen (Lena)

September 5 1936 – September 24, 2010

Helen is now celebrating in the presence of her Lord and Saviour. Helen was at peace with her death and her wishes for end of life were honoured by her family. Helen will always be remembered for her love of family and friends.

Helen graduated from Alberta Vocational College as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Deerholm facility and the Calgary General Hospital. She provided outstanding care and never left her shift without every task completed and every patient cared for.

She was predeceased by her parents Aron and Anna Janzen, bothers Dave, Jake and Aron and her sister Mary Janzen. Helen leaves to mourn her brothers John (Marj) Janzen, Ike (Vera) Janzen, Abe (Elaine) Janzen, Herb (Kay) Janzen; her sisters Anne Siebert, Tina Janzen, Frieda (Cliff) Young and Agnes (Loren) Dyck, sister-in-law Bev Janzen,  as well as many more family and friends who will miss her opinions, hugs and humour. Her niece LeeAnn (Jim) Luciano were especially close to her and travelled through this entire journey with her. LeeAnn will miss the visits, the strong opinions, the tears and the laughs they shared along the way. Helen always knew she was loved and in return her family and friends were loved.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Extendicare Cedars Villa for the compassion, care and love that was shown to Helen during her life and death. The Larkspur program helped to make Helen’s life some of the best times in recent years. Throughout Helen’s last years and declining health; moving to a lodge, hospitals, assisted living and long term care, the congregation at First Alliance Church always visited and kept her connected to them and this meant the world to Helen, as she loved her church. Your kindness and love will not be forgotten.
