Janz, Henry (Rocky)

JANZ, HENRY (ROCKY)
April 22, 1937 – January 14, 2017

Rocky went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 14 at the age of 79 years, surrounded in love with his family. He was born in Lakendorf, East Prussia on April 22, 1937, the fifth of six boys. In 1951 the family immigrated to Canada, living first in Coaldale, AB, then moving to Calgary, where Rocky, with his older brother Helmut, formed a framing company, Hemlock Builders Ltd. Rocky will be lovingly remembered by Ellie, his wife of 52 years, sons Wayne (Karen), Daryl (Cori) and daughter Kelly (James) and grandchildren Lindsay (Dallas), Austin, Rachel (Matt), Mark, Brett, and adopted grandchildren, Cayly, Tevin, and Phoebe; brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Ingrid, Gerhard and Esther, Ruth, Erika, and Hertha, plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Bernhard and Erna Janz, brothers Helmut, Artur, and Kurt. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sarcee Hospice for the truly compassionate and loving care that was given to Rocky. There will be a visitation at Eden Brook Funeral Home (24223 Township Road 242 and Lower Springbank Road S.W) on Thursday, January 19 from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. A Graveside Service will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens, on Friday, January 20 at 11:00 A.M, followed by a Celebration of Life service at First Mennonite Church, (2600 Richmond Rd S.W) at 1:30 P.M.
