GIESBRECHT, Elizabeth “Betty” 

August 11, 1936 – March 18, 2014

Mrs. Betty Giesbrecht of Lethbridge beloved wife of Mr. Jake M. Giesbrecht passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the age of 77 years.

She was born to Aron & Susanna Willms on August 11, 1936 in Bassano, Alberta. In her early years the family moved to Steinbach, Manitoba where she completed her high school. Betty accepted the Lord as her Saviour during her teenage years and was baptized in the MB church. She worked with the Royal Bank of Canada as a teller in Steinbach, Manitoba where she met the love of her life Jake. They were married on August 19, 1956 in Steinbach and spent the next 10 years living in both Winnipeg and farming in the Steinbach area. Jake & Betty welcomed their 2 daughters Charlene on Valentines Day and 4 years later Lynda in the middle of June. In 1971 the family moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where Betty worked as a part time bank teller for many years. Betty was very involved in the Christian Women Ministries for over 30 years and she loved music, singing in many choirs. She loved spending time with her family, camping, road trips and relaxing in the mountains. Betty was blessed with 3 granddaughters whom she especially loved to be with.

Besides her loving husband Jake, she is survived by her 2 daughters Charlene (Bill) Shephard of Edmonton, AB and Lynda (David) Unrau of Skiff, AB and their daughters Alanna, Lauren, and Nicole; 3 sisters, 1 brother and their families as well as many good friends.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers; 1 sister.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614-5Ave South, Lethbridge.
