Erna BARTEL (nee Siebert)
June 22, 1919 – July 22, 2009
On Wednesday, July 22, after a brief illness, Erna Bartel went home peacefully to be with her Lord. Erna enjoyed a full and richly blessed life. Born in West Prussia, she grew up as the youngest of five children. She married Siegfried Bartel in 1939, and fled to western Germany in 1945. With 4 sons they emigrated to Canada in 1951, settling on a dairy farm in Agassiz the following year, where two more sons were born. Erna found great joy in her family and home life and was a blessing to the many who passed through their home. Deeply rooted in her faith, she lived out daily her love for the Lord. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Predeceased by her first son Siegfried (1944), she leaves behind her husband, 7 sons (and their wives) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
