Claassen, Manfred

February 26, 1926 – April 4, 2010

 Manfred Claassen, beloved husband of Irmgard for 56 years, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the age of 84.

 Manfred, born February 26, 1926 in Ladekopp, Danzig, Germany, came to Canada in 1951 and worked in the construction industry in Calgary for nearly 30 years before retiring in 1986. He cherished family and enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains.

 He is survived by his wife Irmgard; daughter Marion (John); three sons Eckhard (Linda), Ed (Margareta), Ron (Denise); Opa to his six grandchildren, Jonathan (Sarah), Vanessa (Mark), Dustin, Lindsay, Maddison and Dylan and Uhr Opa to Sylvie-lyn and his sisters Anneliese and Ingrid. He was predeceased by his parents Eduard and Margaret; brother Helmut and sister Rosemary. He will be greatly remembered and sadly missed

A Graveside Service will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (Lower Springbank Road and 17th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service held at First Mennonite (2600 Richmond Road S.W.) on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.
