Buhr, Mary

Mary Buhr (nee Giesbrecht) of Calgary passed away at the Bow View Manor on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the age of 82 years.

Mary was born in Rosenthal, Russia on November 9, 1921. She fled her home during WW II with the retreating German Forces. She met her husband, John in a refugee camp in Germany. In 1948 the newly married couple moved to Paraguay along with her extended family. In 1953, Mary her husband and two children immigrated to Canada, arriving in Saskatchewan in the dead of winter. In 1957 they settled permanently in Calgary. Mary’s life focused on her family and remained so until her passing.

 Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Joanna and their children, Crista (Phil) and Shauna, great-grandchildren, Hanna and Adison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Irma and Harry Isaac and their children, Matt (Lynelle) and Darren; Elsie and John Kroeger and their children Brett and Stephanie. She will also be missed by her three surviving sisters and a large extended family. Mary was predeceased by her husband John on December 29, 1968; and her daughter Linda in 1959.

 Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at First Mennonite Church (2600 Richmond Road S.W.) on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m.
